Funke Akindele, an actress and filmmaker, has received congratulations from President Bola Tinubu for her industry-breaking film and for her outstanding theatrical work.

In mid-December of last year, her film “A Tribe Called Judah,” which she co-directed and produced, debuted in Nigerian theaters. Three weeks later, it was believed to have made over N1 billion, making it the highest-earning Nigerian film ever.

The President praised the Nigerian creative industry in a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelali, his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, recognizing its vital role as a vehicle for artistic expression as well as a significant source of soft power and profitable export.

One of the industries with strong employment rates is the creative sector, which offers work to our bright and talented young people. This sector of the economy is essential to my government. I applaud Nigerians for their unwavering encouragement and support of domestic artistic endeavors. We’ll create the right conditions for the sector to continue growing. Tinubu, the president, says

In related news, Ms. Akindele received congratulations from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the success of her newest film.

In a post on X, Atiku claimed that the film was a symbol of Nollywood’s tenacity and cultural pride, in addition to smashing records.
